The Taxi Industry is one, which provides participants with the opportunity for a career path, allowing them to be self-employed businessmen or women. Over the years the requirements of taxi operators and investors has grown. They are now, more than ever before, faced with the need to abide by government legislation and taxation requirements.
With Queensland Transport introduction of Operator Accreditation, Taxi Operators are now regularly audited by Queensland Transport Officers to ensure that their operations meet government requirements.
Yellow Cabs (Qld) in consultation with representatives from Queensland Transport (www.transport.qld.gov.au), Taxi Council of Queensland (www.tcq.org.au) and the Industry Training Advisory Board (http://flexiblelearning.net.au/) have developed an Operator Accreditation Course which commences with a Financial Self Assessment backed up by modules on Fleet Control and Logistics, Workplace Health and Safety and Quality Procedures. All modules provide essential information for taxi drivers wishing to take the step from driver to operator. It is also essential that Investors in the industry are informed and kept informed of their responsibilities to operators and the industry as a whole.
It is Yellow Cabs belief that with better informed industry participants the industry will be highly viable with a commendable public image, resulting in benefits to all.
