Cab travel is about to get a whole lot easier when you call a Yellow Cab thanks to a multi-million dollar roll-out of new data systems for Yellow's state of the art Control Room and every single vehicle in Yellow's impressive fleet, the largest in Brisbane. By mid 2010, every cab will have its own 'navigator' thanks to brand new, high performance colour touch screens which bring a world of information to the finger tips of the driver.
The new, highly advanced version of in-car satellite navigation has been developed in association with Melbourne IT company, MTData, who specialize in mobile tracking and data systems. The system will bring nationwide coverage thanks to Telstra's new NextG Network and brings with it a multitude of innovations designed to make taxi travel easier for consumers, drivers, operators and owners. Faster pick-up times, more direct routes, increased accountability, tighter security and easier night time navigation are just some of the benefits that will be immediately available, but the system also paves the way for identification of hail passengers, SMS on approach for booked taxis and more.
Managing Director of Yellow Cabs, Mr Neill Ford, is available for interview on this exciting development and says - "Yellow Cabs continues to lead the race in innovation and improvements. We have considered a broad range of stakeholders and have made an investment which will bring substantial benefits t o the traveling public."
Matthew Bellizia, CEO of MTData says, "We're pleased to have been chosen as Yellow Cabs' dispatch partner and trust the next generation dispatch system will support their strong operations and customer service levels."
The hardware upgrades will begin immediately and continue through until mid 2010, when the system will go "live".
